The Army is investigating allegations that a platoon of soldiers was given a free pass to use racial slurs against each other during what was known as "Racial Thursdays."
The soldiers belong to 2nd Platoon, C Company, 3rd Battalion, 21st Infantry Regiment, according to a member of the unit who spoke to Army Times. The battalion belongs to the 25th Infantry Division's 1st Stryker Brigade Combat Team at Fort Wainwright, Alaska.
Well, if everybody could use them equally, what's the problem? It's good to blow off steam every now and then when you're a soldier. The mundane crap that you're forced to put up with from day to day in Stryker units would make anyone go stir.
That's the worst thing about being in mechanized infantry...being cooped up in a motorpool all day with a bunch of hardlegs. It's torture. Give me the airborne or regular light infantry any day of the week.
In any case, I'm not endorsing this as a way to run a unit, but hey...people try crazy things sometimes. Especially grunts.

The "against each other" tells me it wasn't loaded one way or another but was a strategy to have a session where all out venting was allowed - open communication, expression etc. I wouldn't have come up with it, but did it meet the goal?
Why is that 50% of the threads on here are about "racism"? Why is it breaking news every time someone commits a thoughtcrime? Is anyone actually hurt by mean words? Is anyone "systematically oppressed" because people think mean things from time to time? Racism used to mean fire hoses, Jim Crow, and slavery...now it is basically schoolyard taunts and "microaggressions."
