Why are republicans against helping people in need? (unemployment rate, wages, Obama)

Why do conservatives/republicans hate European welfare system/social benefits and programs? Why against helping those people in need? Unfortunately not everybody has the luck of reaching middle/upper class due to various circumstances and reasons especially nowadays with higher unemployment rates, not as great economy, lower wages, higher cost of living, etc.
Why can't we be more like Germany as one example?

Difference between helping people in need and empowering the state.
Overall, the states in which people gave the highest percentage of their adjusted gross incomes were also states that voted for Romney, while states in which people gave the lowest percentage of their adjusted gross income went for Obama. The top 17 states for rate of giving all went for Romney.
In any case, if conservative donations often end up building churches, liberal donationsfrequently sustain art museums, symphonies, schools and universities that caterto the well-off. (It’s great to support the arts and education, but they’re not the same as charity for the needy. And some research suggests that donations to education actually increase inequality because they go mostly to elite institutions attended by the wealthy.)
Conservatives also appear to be more generous than liberals in nonfinancial ways. People in red states are considerably more likely to volunteer for good causes, and conservatives give blood more often. If liberals and moderates gave blood as often as conservatives, Mr. Brooks said, the American blood supply would increase by 45 percent.
Less well-off families from red states donate a relatively higher – and growing –proportion of their money to charity, while those at the top have been giving asmaller share as their income has increased, a new extensive study has revealed.
European counties outside of Germany are in huge trouble with their economies.
Now those social benefits those countries have given are in big trouble. Look at the riots that have broken out in Greece. Look at France's youth riots where 30-40% of those under age 25-30 are unemployed.
Spain is in trouble.
Don't think Europe is any better off than the USA.

Most Republicans I knew or know belonged to organizations that promoted Americanism giving back to their community helping raise money for Shriners hospital, veterans local youth leagues ...where do you people come from?
Its interesting that no one is responding with a discussion, they just go on the attack.
The answer is that despite being amongst the richest nations in the world, with some truly stunning levels of inequality, all too many of us are believing carefully crafted propaganda.
In a age where increasingly people will be automated out of jobs, we as a nation are buying into the propaganda that they deserved it for not being good enough.
