Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz has never shied away from voicing his political opinions. But now the outspoken leader of the world's biggest coffee chain is taking on one of the most heated topics of today: race relations.
On Sunday, Starbucks published a full page ad in USA Today with the words “Shall We Overcome?” on a stark, black background to kick off its initiative.
This was followed Monday by a company directive where baristas are being encouraged to spark race discussions with the option to handwrite the words “Race Together” on a customer’s cup.
They will rue the day they start talking to me about race relations when I am buying my coffee. Especially if it happens to be the first cup of the morning.
This thread just ensured that Starbucks has permanently lost my business. I don't go to Starbucks for moral sermons about race relations, I go there for coffee. Since moral sermonizing about race is now included with my coffee, I'll take my coffee consumption business elsewhere.

ROFLMAO
If this story is true, it is one of the dumbest business plans I have ever heard of.
What will happen is that it will spark controversy and probably even devolve into fights at some point. When it does, rest assured some shyster lawyer will sue Starbucks for being the cause of someone getting injured.
That will end this fools attempt at social engineering with his business.
Here's how to get back if you like your Starbucks coffee in the morning.
If they give you a cup with them writing "Race together" on it then just ask for another cup without them writing on it.
Enough people do it then they will get the message pretty quick as wasting cups equate to wasting $$$.
I agree that this is just incredibly stupid. The last thing I want when buying anything is to get a "lecture," even if it is just via a written message on a cup.
Starbucks never had much of my business -- at most, three visits a year -- but I bet if this policy is instituted, they will lose a LOT of customers.
"Schultz," huh? Well, no surprise there.
And race relations are hardly one of the most heated topics of the day, aside from amongst some hard leftists who are desperate to make it so. For whatever reason.
