I'm not trying to be negative or critical of City-Data. I get much information and entertainment from numerous forums. However, on this and some other forums the conversation eventually breaks down into an irreconcilable difference of opinion or argument. Has anyone ever seen a right-wing person say to a lefty "hey, you're correct; I'm wrong" or vice versa? What's the point?

Shrug. I do on occasion. I've seen others do as well. not common though.

IBTL.

What would a week be on a forum if someone didn't post the requisite "is this forum worth it" thread?

Not as common as it should be.

CD is a waste of time, but it is fun sometimes to read the points of view from people I would never meet in real life.

Not all people come here to argue about politics.
I, for example, came here to learn any developments / potential developments in Philadelphia area.
I actually made a bunch of friends here.
Although if you go to Politics and Other Controversies forum, you will see alot of people argue.

The depends on your point of view and weather or not you are correct and they are wrong.

nope. it forces me to sharpen my arguments.
if you are here, even if you never change your mind on a subject, and if you never change the mind of another, you are still forced to THINK>. that itself is worth the time spent.

in my humble opinion.

Depends on how you define "waste of time"

If i actually had a social life, I wouldn't be here. I don't have a social life right now, not at all.
I am always working, I work 11 hours a day, (including the weekends) so I can log on, read, and post.

In summer time, I will be visiting my brother in England, and I will visit my relatives in Germany, and other European countries. I won't be here posting at all.

I don't think this forum is waste of time, it is entertaining, and occasionally, educational.

I never tried to change anybody's minds here because I know I cannot. I think most posters here are pretty intelligent, they just have very strong opinions.

A Recon Marine will never tell a Navy Seal "You are so impressive."

Changing other people's opinions, in my opinion, is waste of time.

I have seen you do it on more than one occasion and I admire you for it.
