He is respecting someone who stands up for what they believe in. That is what he is saying, if you listen to everything he says, and pay attention to context. It doesn't mean he AGREES with "BHO" or that he respects his opinion.
If you listen to Cruz, it doesn't matter, since he lies anyway, and just says what one wants to hear. Instead, look at what he has accomplished for us, because he "Respects" American citizens. He accomplished.........ZERO...positive. He did shut down the Government, by being a sneaky snake, at the cost of several Billion dollars of Taxpayers money. I would not believe anything he says. Sure he did, it is simply history now. Oh except for the fact that we Still do not have a long term National Budget, what is the hold up anyway?
Now we agree on something, if it comes down to Jeb and Hillary I will not participate, after all it would mean we can not do any better, meaning we are on the long slide to mediocrity as a Nation and will likely break up. eventually. Hopefully I will be gone before that day comes but I doubt it, things can happen very quickly.
It isn't factual history. The plan was for two legislative proposals to be considered - funding the government and funding the ACA, which Congress was not going to fund. Aside from Obamacare, everything else would have been funded. In reality, how it should operate is a dozen or more separate spending bills considered, i.e. one for defense, one for criminal justice, etc.
Obama via Harry Reid said all or nothing. It was Obama via Reid who shut the government down. The House of Representatives passed, by strong majority, the plan to have two separate bills. The media played it off as the fault of Cruz and the Republicans. Sadly, some of the Republicans went along with the media on the false narrative - the Rhinos.
