Why would anyone have a problem with someone owning a licensed handgun? It does happen but it is rare that a legal law abiding citizen who is licensed to have that firearm uses it to commit a felony.
The troubles come from the criminals that break the law with an illegal gun. They are the ones who rob and use guns to hurt people.
Most gun owners in this country follow the letter of the law and respect law enforcement. The legal gun owners are on the side of the police.
Overwhelming in a poll police disagree that gun control prevents crime.
I guess they want to keep it an even playing field... to bad for all the cops that have been shot and killed and those who will be killed in the future.
Sad thing is when you ask them to show where peoples guns are being grabbed the most they come up with is someone that is mentally ill had theirs taken away for a while. The paranoid will always be paranoid it is what drives them. Hey worried about them stopping the sales of guns or ammo then go out and buy it now and be done with it, worried that they may confiscate your guns wake up and smell the coffee Americans re Not going to be giving up their guns and the government does not have the power to take them, you can relax now folks. Good Grief
You probably are not in this state and did not follow these elections closely, or you wouldn't make these statements. It would be better to hold your fire when not sure of your target.
The first measure, I-676 had strong support in early polling but opponents, including police groups, raised $2.3 million, while the pro-gun control side raised only about $500,000, including $35,000 from Bill Gates. The campaign against was mostly run by a group called the CCRKBA, not the NRA.
The second measure, I-594 also did well in early polling, but this time maintained a lead right up to election day. This time gun control proponents opened their wallets to raise $11 million, including over $1 million from Bill Gates, $1 million from Steve Ballmer (Microsoft), and $1.3 million from Nick Hanauer (Amazon). Opponents raised only $600,000. Opponents also fumbled (IMO) by running an opposing measure (I-591) in hopes that it would pass and gum up the works, rather than focusing on just defeating the gun control measure (I-594). This just diluted their resources, although in retrospect it would have been hard to beat an $11 million campaign in any case.
While I agree that most cops say that they oppose gun control, they are THE gun grabbers in the U.S.
Correct, the cops are rhe ones that enforce thw gun grabbing lawa
