There is a lot of talk about how it's harder to make a living for people today and here is another example. Always in the interest of "Safety. No, this is in the interest of the corporations looking to get rid of all competition.

After putting small local farmers out of business they have moved on to soap makers. Next will be the apiarist.

Welcome to big government.

Is someone dying from the use to these alternative products? Some would argue it's more dangerous to use the big company products with the various chemicals.

If you think that's the problem... fine - ban the hazardous substance. This requires no action unless there is an offense.

But why... authorize the FDA to collect user-fees from personal care products manufacturers similar to what is done for medications and medical devices ?? Obviously there are interests that what to make operating costs higher to keep competitors out.

You don't need to collect fees to enforce a law.

You have much to learn, the law is in place so they can collect the fees.

The law is just a tool to be used to increase the power of government.

Here's to hoping that if it does pass (it hasn't yet) the local craftspeople just ignore the law.

I was simply stating the way it should be if indeed there was a consumer safety problem.

I understand the government is doing the bidding of the corporations to remove competition.

Okay, reviewing the bill (and not the nutso website so much) it seems the entire point is to FDA to measure the impact of the chemicals used in soaps.

So, uh, if you don't have the chemicals in it. . shouldn't bother you too much.

I don't know. . .seems like a fair enough bill. I wish they would lockdown the f'n vitamins and other crack pot stuff though (anything labeled homeopathic). . .that is a bigger issue.
