Damn near ALL African Americans are partially white.

So Carson might be 20% white, but for all intents and purposes, he's 1000% black.

And that's all that matters In America...what your race is as a practical matter.

My son is only half black, but has always considered himself black because it's far more practical to do so.

Why not? The president's race has become a non-issue just the way a POTUS being a Catholic stopped being an issue after Kennedy was elected because all the reasons that bigots gave for NOT electing a black POTUS have been proven wrong, just like all the reasons that bigots gave for NOT electing a Catholic POTUS before 1960 were also proven wrong.

If you don't think that Kennedy's Catholicism was a big deal in 1960, guess again. My family all were staunch ethnic Catholic Democrats, and they all had framed photos of FDR hanging in conspicuous spots in their homes. When Kennedy was elected, FDR gave way to JFK, complete with some blessed palms from the most recent Palm Sunday, and those stayed where they were until the old folks all passed.

Surely you don't mean to suggest that Obama was elected mainly because one parent was white?

I would argue that, yes.

That argument would be ludicrous.

Clearly you've never heard of the "one-drop rule." Obama is a black man. White conservatives don't dislike him because he has a white parent; it is because he has a black parent.

LOL! You are probably right and that is what is scary. People would vote for her because she is (a) black, (b) female, (c) has a (D) after her name, and (d) she is Oprah. Never mind she isn't even remotely qualified to be POTUS.

We all probably have some mixed blood. When did the "one drop rule" become a criteria for running for POTUS?

Usually if the word "ethnic" is used it means "non-white". Whites aren't allowed to have culture or ethnicity.
