The trooper did not make an official report (I feel confident that he had to be a mandated reporter for child abuse, so he completely fell down on his job, but turns out he was involved in child porn himself, so he had major issues anyway.)

If you read through the police reports and the statements from everyone involved, the parents took this very seriously. I can't imagine having one of my children harm another one. The police reports say that the Duggars did multiple things, including taking him to the church elders (who also should have reported to the police), turning him into the trooper, and when the police came to them in 2006, they admitted he had molested the girls and encouraged the victims to all tell the police the truth. The police asked each victim if their parents tried to influence what they said, and every one of them said no, that their parents told them to tell the truth.
The girls also all said that Josh had not done anything else wrong after coming back from Little Rock (where the parents sent him after the molestations) and that they felt safe around him.

I don't know why anyone ever wants to be on a reality show, and I especially don't know why someone would go on a show with such skeletans in their closets. I've never watched the show, but I've seen the family on the news a few times and never got the impression that they were calling themselves perfect. In general, Christianity is an admission that everyone is a sinner.

I've been appalled with the outright gleeful reactions I've seen from some liberals on Facebook and in story comments. I don't understand how anyone can be gleeful about this story.
Good post.

It's easy to understand. It's like blood in the water. Sharks don't stop to think, they need to feed. People were waiting for this about the Duggars.

As Christians, the Duggars probably accept the consequences of their actions and will be okay as a family. Josh said he came to Christ after he committed these acts, and has learned a difficult lesson about his own potential perversity and the importance of self control.

The simple truth is that if he was some kind of leftist icon this would be a non-issue. The troops would have rallied around and he would already have assumed protected victim status. We would hear repeatedly that he was a child when this happened and the matter had been dealt with.

Are any of you leftists prepared to deny this is the way it would go? Pretty hard to deny when we've seen this scenario over and over again when the subject was a leftist.

I suppose no one travels anymore. TSA subjects people of all ages to similar treatment. I wonder, does molestation really make us feel safer. Is the only difference the fact that the victims were not traveling that generates the outrage ? Maybe he was just doing a pre-trip inspection to get them used to being fondled so they don't freak out on the TSA.

Oklahomans, instead, think it's more important to do something serious about people caught in the possession of drugs by sending them to prison for 4 or 5 years. And then don't complain about it when freed inmates come out saying it was easier to get high while in prison. They say heroin is the big thing now in Oklahoma prisons.
Cleveland County; Craigslist child molester serves only 75-weeks in prison for abusing autistic 6yr old | JohnTV
Wow. Someone gets a year and a half for molesting an autistic 6 year old, yet there are people with pot who go to jail for 5+ years.

There truly is not justice when a wrongful action is less punished than just having things the government told you not to have. Good, lord.

My fear is that the rationale is which is more profitable. There aren't that many child molesters and they're also probably a lot harder to find. But drug users... plenty of those and they can be caught quite easily.

Wrongful actions need to be punished. If person X harms person Y in some way, be it physically, sexually, or financially (as in cases of theft), person X should go to jail. If person X does something that might not be good, like having and using heroin, but harms no one in the process, there are smarter alternatives than prison. Seems simple, but justice is dead.

You can refuse a TSA search; they might not let you on a plane, but you can still refuse it. Not disagreeing, the TSA is an absurd overreaction to the threat of dangers on a plane.

I can honestly say that the TSA has never put fingers inside of me or fondled me at anytime much less when I was asleep in my home.

Duggars: real tough call here.

IF the perp was "saved" by counseling and kept his word about being a good person, that's 1 thing. If the boy at the time in question kept acting wrong; THEN it'd be time to lock his ass up. Period.

This is sort of where I'm act.

Sorry truth, we can't lock everyone up. And with 2 million Americans currently incarcerated, I know that's apparently what we want to do. But if I had to pick people to get away with it, I'd pick people who aren't going to do it ever again once they've been caught and let go. There's really no reason to suspect he's still doing it, so that's the silver lining. It also sounds like his victims (his sisters) haven't been psychology destroyed in this process, which is way more important to me than him going to jail. If they're ok, that's really the important thing, I think.

The man's still a hypocrite though, just slightly less of one now that he's confessed.

Not going to read the pages of "down with the Duggars"--just throwing this in:

It is absolutely illegal to obtain and publish a police report of a minor. They are sealed. Yet it was perfectly ok for whoever to go back and find this police report from when Joshua was--14?--and publish it.

Obviously when you don't support the gay agenda, anything is fair game.

Before we talk about how "horrible" he is, let's publish the police reports for ALL incidents done by 14-year-olds for the past 15 years and put this in perspective. Oh, wait. The other 14-year-olds have "rights to privacy."
