Depends on what monuments, Magna Carta, the Mayflower Compact, and the Declaration of Independence and many others helped shaping American law. People should have no problems with them.

Other monuments, although haven't hurt anyone, might not have places in American law. That is why.

I'm willing to bet more of the code of Hammurabi is used in the laws of the US than the 10 commandments, why is it not put up as a monument?

It is also religious in nature and therefore does not belong on public property.

I agree. People outraged that they can't put their religious symbols on public property is fake outrage.
I'm willing to bet there is a church within a block or two that would gladly put it out front for all to see.

Get a proof from the city or state, go from there.
