The vast majority of our laws are based on the 10 Commandments. Not sure why people have a problem with what is basically a Cliff's Notes version of US law.

Actually, at least 5 are, or were until recently, reflected in our laws: murder, adultery, theft, perjury, and the sabbath day. The ones about coveting could possibly be considered to be covered under our laws against theft and adultery. The others are fairly obviously strictly religious.

Considering that our founding fathers were at least nominally Christian, with a couple of deists (who are still Christian) and undecideds thrown in, yeah, the argument is pretty strong that our major laws were based on Christian tenets. If you can't recognize that, then your hatred of religion is clouding your logic.

Which "vast majority"?

The 1st amendment is in direct conflict with the first commandment.
There is no law about making idols, so there goes the second commandment.
There are no laws about taking any gods name in vain. (freedom of speech)
No one is required to keep the sabbath holy, so there goes the 4th commandment.
No one is required to honor their parents, there goes the 5th.
OOH! murder, can't do that. But alas that has been a rule in just about every civilization even non christian ones.
There are no laws making adultery illegal. There goes the 7th.
Don't steal! there's one, but again, that has been a rule in most societies even pre christian ones.
Don't lie, no law against that unless under oath in court. There goes number 9.
Don't covet. In a capitalist society there is no way that there would ever be a law against that one.

So basically there are two, and both of those were around in laws BEFORE christianity.

The ones who aren't stupid are mentally ill.

No they are not. They are very different.

Anyway, concerning this topic, the courts are being used to change the
character of our country. The courts have outstepped their proper boundaries
and must be reigned in, or they will be allowed to tyrannize us.

THis is why any argument over religion is just hillarious. It's clearly all just made up by tribesman and here we are, thousands of years later debating it

Then why don't the churches set an example to the public on the importance of the Ten Commandments by putting up monuments to them on their church lawns? I simply assume the reason most churches think doing that would be a bad idea is because it would just be needless expense upon the church, since church members should have the Ten Commandments hanging from the walls of their hearts. If by chance they forget any of the Commandments then they can look them up in one of the many bibles in the church. Probably to such church people, one Ten Commandments monument outside the capitol is quite nice enough to represent the best interests of thousands of churches in the state.

Really?
Would you say that if it was a monument to another religion, maybe a satanic monument.

There was no reason for this display, it accomplished nothing and does not belong on government property. Oklahoma violated their own constitution by placing religious statues on public property, it is quite clear but the thread continues.

Why was it so important to place this on government property rather than private, even churches, mosques and synagogues use more moderation in general but here we have a religious monument on public display

Several other religions said that if the 10 Commandments stayed, they wanted their rules on the grounds. One of these was the Flying Spaghetti Monster religion. They wear colanders on their heads. One of them won the right in an Oklahoma court to wear one in their driver's license photo.
