Of course I dont live there, but you get my opinion anyway like it or not.
We means the majority of Oregon, that is how democracy functions. Oh and you are free to give your opinion on anything you like, as they say, we all have opinions about everything. Though you might not claim to be a conservative, I am betting you are in favor of State's Rights.

So we can vote slavery back in since that's how a democracy functions?

You mean the one from Fox News? How about reading a real article from an Oregon source that tells you the real story? Not enough right wing hyperbole for you? Let me know if you want to know about what the actual law say from someone that lives in the state, not the garbage that Fox News spoon feeds you.

BTW the earlier poster who said you have to be 18 to fight and die for the country is wrong, its 17 with a parental waiver. That may have changed since I was in the military, but I was 17 and in boot camp.
Interesting, I never knew about the parental waiver part.

Well that depends, would voting slavery back violate federal law? The answer you are looking for is yes, on the other hand, there is no federal law that says what the age of consent is for medical procedures. That is something that is left up to the states to decide.

I'm transgender and I strongly disagree with allowing such a life-changing decision like this without parental knowledge or consent.

I do too, but thats been the law since 1971 in Oregon. Its not something new. I do kind of see where it came about though, and some of the rational behind it for many things.

Please watch the hospital doors and let us know how many 15-year-olds have rushed in to have their genitals rebuilt. There is no way you can tell if this has any impact or influence on medical treatment. I suppose one could argue that younger is better if you are going to have this done.

Oregon is not the first or only state whereby the state's Medicaid System will provide " treatment" for gender identification, including surgery provided prerequisites are met. What appears to make Oregon remarkable is the age of medical consent law. I took a quick spin thru the law and it appeared to be limited to certain medical services. In other words, it did not strike me as broad enough to cover gender reassignment surgery.

Perhaps I missed something.

I am on an I- Pad and DK how to link.

I cannot imagine a medical professional prescribing hormone treatment to ward off puberty, let alone perform sex reassignment surgery on a minor. Sounds like doing so would have a substantially higher degree of medical malpractice risk , over time.

As an aside, gender reassignment surgery is excluded under most healthcare plans.

I do not understand gender dyphoria.

Brought to you by the same people who think home schooling is abusive. Another prime example of why NOT to put progressives in positions of power.
I got to ask what doctor would perform the operation? Holy mooly, talk about future lawsuits this would be one.

"Daddy, remember the pee-pee I used to have? I got it cut off today."
