The Us continues to waste money of course, its right at the tip of the finger...."PRINT" but, then who pays it back? where is the accountability in all this?

I Agree.... then again, is an Afghan life worth lesser than an American one? many of them died as innocent people or they died defending their country,...sovereignty
It's all about keeping reasons for spending $$$$ on military hardware supplied by the corporations who's stock holders demand the profits! And the lobbyists who roam the halls in Washington to keep it coming!
Was apparent long ago. Government hiring practices make it difficult for people on the ground to get in a position to do something. Oh you're an engineer already working on a infrastructure project in Afghanistan, and you're applying for a job on the government side of the project. That's nice. If you get the job, you can come back to the U.S. To train you how to live and work in Afghanistan for six months even though you're already doing just that.
Those places were a particular embrassment though. Lockheed, Mitsubishi, and a half dozen other American, Japanese, British, and German companies already have designs from the WWII era for top of the line, combat tested, prop planes that can provide close air support that could go into production in a matter of months and for a cost of only a few million.

The biggest problem was that Afghanistan should have been broken up into about five different countries after the king declined to resume his thrown. If we'd done that two areas could have been handed over to Uzbekistan and Tajikistan within months of the invasion. The new nation of Hazarastan or Hazarajat with its capital in Bamyan could have been given responsibility for its security about A year later. ISAF would have needed to stay in the newly created Republic (or Kingdom headed by the Shah's son) of Persia capitaled by Herat, and the Islamic Republic of Pashtunistan with its capital in Kabul or Kandahar. Five years in ISAF probably could have left the Republic of Persia.
