i think swat teams should carry heavy weapons not flat feet.
we need community police--- not outside para military forces.
of course if the neighborhood is predominately inhabited by criminals or their sympathizers they wont want any police will they.
I agree. they need the access. during the north hollywood shootout, they had to be armed by a local gun store if I am not mistaken.
What they got from the gun stores were NOT fully automatic weapons. They were semi autos which is all they need. Fully auto is only used for suppression fire. Police don't need suppression fire.

You are wrong, full auto sub machine guns are used solely for armed direct fire. So are the m4's issued to soldiers. SAW and other medium and heavy machine guns are designed for suppression.

The point is, they are all unnecessary and not beneficial for the use by the police departments.
If we come to a point where our police departments need fully auto weapons then we have lost this country.
