Big difference between an object designed specifically for transport and one designed specifically for killing or maiming another. It is sad that we still have to define the distinction in a developed country.

Do you know what the word "rarely" means?

The correct term for him would be "terrorist", regardless of his religion, background or place of birth.

When the media says White male or identifies the race front and center, they are implying heterosexual and Republican and usually Christian. That's the trifecta of being loathsome by the left no matter your race or gender.

And yet the deaths by automobile are 2,000 times higher than mass shootings. Maybe you should focus on the big problems we have rather than the nine mass shooting deaths we had last year.

It is sad that people focus on nine deaths in a developed country rather than 40,000.

He was a mentally ill turned violent criminal. Where the person is from matters. If a native American is mentally ill and turns violent, that's just domestic crime.

I always thought that gun was designed to fire a projectile accurately at range.
I shoot quite a bit and yet I never target live targets, yet the firearm still hits what I aimed at. Maybe they aren't all designed to kill people after all.
Now if you said bombs, hand grenades, or full automatic weapons I might have seen your point.
Are knives designed to stab and cut people to death?
What about a bow and arrow? What about crossbows? Wait, what about slingshots? One killed a giant once upon a time.

We do - we have speed limits, seat-belt requirements, child seat laws, intoxication laws, tests and licences, helmet requirements for motorcycles etc etc etc. And that is just for driving a car, which pretty much everyone ion this country needs to do. Why is that we have so little regulation around guns? Why do people freak out about simple regulations on guns?

It's odd how some incidents get politicized and sensationalized and some don't. In New jersey and Pa, a young black male went on a murder spree and it was pretty much ignored nationally. In Pa, a cop shot a young black male multiple times and it was ignored. On the surface these stories could have been played up like others but weren't. You have to wonder what the exact criteria is for the MSM and the activists and politicians to pick up a story and use it for their own ends. You have people murdered every day in cities across the country and because in San Francisco it was done by an illegal that should have been deported it goes viral. Someone kills their family and its forgotten in a week. But if they kill strangers, it sparks a huge debate.
Often times a case presents itself and then just goes nowhere. Its in a grey area where it can't quite gain traction and one side or the other or both can't really use it. This is going to be one of those cases. Maybe the victims and their families are lucky, they'll get spared the media circus. But being ignored in their suffering isn't fair, either.
Probably the best thing is for us to ignore the media, the politicians and the activists and to just talk about the facts of cases and events and decide for ourselves what to do. When we decide, THEN we can tell our leaders and lawmakers what they'll do about it.
