You hear many conspiracy theories such as the Govt let 9/11 happen so they'd have a reason to go to war. I even heard our govt knowingly let the Sandy Hook shooting happen as a way to change the public's stance on guns.
Of course I find those all ludicrous, but are there actually any REAL false flag operations by our govt?
I love how EVERYTHING is a false flag operation, including Newtown, Dylan Roof, JFK, 9/11, yada yada. But then InfoWars and Alex Jones never tell a lie.
I don't really buy into the 9/11 or Sandy Hook conspiracies, but the Gulf to Tonkin was pretty shady. If I had to say one event was a false flag operation, it's this one.
Of course, the bay of Tonkin as mention. Also, likely, Pearl Harbor to the extent it was a "suprise." Also, elements of 9-11. The USS Liberty attack (an Israeli false flag).

Pearl Harbor I'm apt to agree with. With 9/11, people really seem to exaggerate the reasons why it was allowed to happen. My guess, if they did have any intel on it, they just thought the threat wasn't credible. And indeed, would the threat of several highjacked planes crashing into important buildings seem credible from a group who has had no real attacks in the US yet?
If we did let it happen, I don't think it was about war though. It was the PATRIOT Act. 9/11 alone would not have been enough to justify the wars. We need more lies, like Saddam has weapons of mass destruction, to do that. And we did do that, but they could have said that without 9/11.

Very true, and "The Patriot Act" was written long before 9/11 and shot down by Congress before.
False flag events orchestrated by various governments have been well documented throughout history.
Why do they occur? Because they work well to achieve a goal that could be very difficult to achieve without the event.
