It's not just a scam, but a sweetheart deal for the insurance companies. They made fortunes, and not small ones either, off of the health care law.
It's a ripoff.
For example, if I paid cash at a local Urgent Care, it's $35 out of pocket.
If I use my insurance card, it's still $35 out of pocket, but my insurance provider is charged $100. How do I know? I get a statement of what my insurance covers after they're billed.
It weird, it says, they were billed $100, but the amount allowable is $45. Yet I don't have to pay the remaining balance.

That means the provider gets $45, $10 from them..$35 from you.
My last 3 employer's were SELF insured with major insurers acting as administrators (common in US), and each employer averaged about 60% off list prices. That is what the $100 is-LIST.

It is a scam, my parents were paying for around $20k/year for their health insurance because of pre-existing condition. They got a letter saying they will not renew our insurance because they are leaving the state, so all that money being invested into them, out the drain. Thankfully, nothing bad happened to them otherwise they would have been out of luck. My dad was fine getting insurance again, but my mom couldn't get insured until Obamacare came. They both have medicare now at least. I like when Trump said a big problem is having borders for insurance companies because it creates monopolies.
There are no 'borders' for insurance companies. Any insurance company can register in each state to sell insurance and some do, the caveat is that they have to follow the laws of each state. This idea about selling insurance across state lines is nothing more than a money grab for insurance companies, they want to sell out of the state with the fewest regulations and financial solvency requirements. They did the same thing with credit cards, they all set up shop in Delaware or South Dakota which have no cap on interest rates that sure helped consumers, didn't it?
Of course it is. Liberals and insurance companies are making so much money from us though, why would they want to stop stealing from us?
hey I'm a liberal where's ma money?
