Supply isn't an issue. You want 100? 200? 500? Do you think they aren't available? They are. The main reason the price is so high is that it takes more to manufacture an RPG than it does a typical handgun. You can buy as many morters and morter rounds as you like. You can buy shoulder launched missles. It's all out there....
Well - from a pure availability standpoint, stuff on the black market is considerably more expensive and forces you to associate with undesirable people who will now know you're a criminal. Y'know, in case they need a favor.
Oh, and you'll have to trust them to sell you a firearm that doesn't have a history. Getting busted with a murder weapon can seriously complicate your life. Because you really don't want to tell on those undesirable people.
A 3-day waiting period may or may not cool off those who might on impulse do harm to someone else, but having to frequent the seedier part of town to set up a meeting with a guy who expects you to show up with an envelope of cash that he may or may not exchange for a firearm - that tends to put a damper on most.
And, of course, most people will call in the law if they see you parade an AT-4 down the street. Likewise for a handgun in a restaurant.
Which is why smart criminals in areas with strict gun control avoid carrying guns. It's just a hassle.
You mean like in Chicago? Detroit? Baltimore? Yeah, they sure avoid carrying guns there don't they..
Arm everyone, man woman and child..... See what happens.
The herd will be thinned to a much more respectful and polite society. Let's make a bet!
It seems to me that anyone who thinks respect and courtesy comes from fear of impending death have misunderstood both concepts. If I fell into the gorilla enclosure of a zoo, I'd most certainly be as deferential as I could, but I can guarantee it wouldn't be out of respect.
