Yes, O'Keefe exposes corruption or ignorance.
Here we have a teachable moment. If you bring a briefcase with a "clock" that resembles an IED to school you can get arrested. The system worked.

To one skilled in the related arts it looked like a PWB with a display and a transformer. It lacks the key item for any bomb which is something that looks like an explosive or a container therefore or some structure to perform the detonating function.

As I said before I have a similar device sitting next to my desk...A plaque with a display and a prototype PWB on the back. This one flashes simple messages. The statement on the plaque makes clear what it is. But face down it would resemble the Ahmed device. And I carried it on airplanes without trouble.

Only if you appear or are known to be a Muslim.

A teachable moment wouldn't have made the news. Arresting a 14 year old and interrogating him without his parents there will.

Try to bring a similar device to an airplane and see what happens.

The teacher and police suspected the the kid knew what he was doing so they arrested him for further questioning.

If Obama and his advisers can't even be bothered to "fact check" a high school boy, how can we ever expect him to represent our interests and negotiate reasonable deals with other countries and world leaders?
Does anyone still expect him to represent OUR interests?

Yet police knew right away it was a clock and no bomb parts. They questioned the boy without the parents. They took him from school property without parents.

2 - Righteous indignation about how someone was treated. Did this happen because he was brown? Because he was Ahmed? or because the Police administration was technology illiterate Luddites who can't tell a clock from a bomb. who knows

3 - Then another group has to find something wrong with the first group. OH he didn't build it from scratch. Oh - oh - he did it on purpose in a complicated conspiracy to get a Surface Pro - I don't know why I must attack this story - I just need to do it

Seriously people - the person who should be castrated here was the police taking a kid in handcuffs after they determined the kid was telling the truth. The police in this situation questioned a kid without parents present (another law violation).

People giving this guy a trip to Facebook because he won the Meme lottery of the week. . . wtf. who cares.
Are you saying the police acted stupidly?

Exactly, hence, no project/no assignment . . .teacher told him to put it away, then he goes and plugs it into an outlet in his English class, go figure.

There were ZERO reasons to cuff him and once you go ahead and make that mistake you call his parents in.

Even if he had said that this was a trial run for a real bomb there would have been NOTHING they could have done as the statement would have been tossed for violating his rights.

So the police screwed up any way you want to look at this.
