Watching this latest follies over Planned Parenthood - are Republicans really so extremist, or just downright stupid to shut down the entire govt over this? Especially considering nobody else really cares what a woman does with her body.

Republicans - if you NEVER want to hold the Presidency again, and want to turn the US into a socialist abomination, just keep up the circus of ignorant canidates and shut down the govt again over a non issue - a year before elections.
Republicans (and the evangelicals they're catering to) are stupid to get up in arms about the abortion issue. Abortion kills Democrat voters. They ought to support it with utmost vigor.
At the same time, the "woman's own body" canard is tiresome. It's not "her body," it's the body of the fetus growing inside of her. Repeating this sort of disingenuous tripe only makes the self-identified smart people who parrot it look like the simple minded shills they are.

I'm not advocating shutting down the government, but making the assumption that "nobody else really cares what a woman does with her body" is a stretch. If a woman signs up for her own body to be sliced and diced for someones profit, fine and dandy. But we aren't just talking about her body are we? Religious people are not the only ones who found those videos disgusting.

I think you have lost it! Why would it be necessary to shut down the government to get rid of corruption? Are you saying Democrats are too corrupt to co-operate in getting rid of such an objectionable organization? That wouldn't be the Republicans causing the government to be shut down. That would be the Democrats. The attorney general should have already taken care of the problem.
