Afghan forces have begun an operation to retake the city of Kunduz, a day after it fell to the Taliban in one of their biggest assaults since 2001.
...
Kunduz is the first provincial capital seized by the Taliban since they lost power in the US-led invasion 14 years ago, and the Taliban's advance there will pile pressure on Mr Ghani's unity government.
I don't care for the Taliban but they will be part of any solution, 2 wars over 30 years actually goes back quite longer and they are still standing. Get ready for the stories and how great Afghanistan was prior to our departure.
I feel sorry for the people, many want change but it's virtually impossible. There are quite a few Afghans departing for europe.
Same as Iraq, when people falsely claim it was great when the U.S. was there when they argue for permanent occupation. The U.S. has been intervening in Afghanistan since the Soviet Invasion of Afghanistan in 1979, and it has not worked out in favor of the U.S. at all.
It is unfortunate, and my guess is the Taliban will be part of any future solution due to their power and influence there. Some of the people swarming Europe now are from Afghanistan.
History shows that any country that tried to invade Afghanistan ended up going home with their tail between their legs and nothing accomplished except a high war debt.
The US is no different.
its a land of misery best left alone,if we had a million troops there for 100 years it wouldnt have made any difference.afgahniastan is and always will be a lost cause

There are 10,000 US troops in Afghanistan, did it make a difference, why would we expect it would make a difference in Iraq.
Yet another case of a US trained military force that out numbered the enemy deserting.

Agree, it is the definition of insanity to try the same thing over and over again expecting different results. The politicians in D.C. still can not realize that interventionism is a disastrous foreign policy to follow.
If what happened at Mosul, and now in Afghanistan, is not showing them what they are doing does not work nothing will.

They could always join the Afghan army. No different than the Syrians, Iraqis and Yemenis departing for different parts of the world.
He is your buddy, of course you will stick up for him....
