People who want guns but can't pass a background check will quite frequently find someone they know who can pass a background check to buy the gun for them. They get the gun, give it to the prohibited person and no one is the wiser..unless the gun is recovered after being used it a crime. At that time the police look up the dealers report of sale and contact the purchaser who typically will claim to the police that the gun was lost or stolen. Right now there is nothing the police can do. If this law passed, then the person who claims after a gun is used in a crime that it was lost/stolen they can be charged with a misdemeanor and hopefully won't be in a big hurry to do the same thing again. I don't see a problem with it. No one is taking your guns away or restricting the kind or number of guns you own, it is simply a requirement that if one or more of your firearms are lost or stolen you have an obligation to report that.
IOW, the whole crackpot "gun ownership" arrangement in America is very badly in need of reform and CLOSE supervision ...

If someone is going to violate a law, making another law making it illegal to violate the first law is nonsense.

Many laws are *tweaked* and/or amended, improved, strengthened (or, weakened) along the way …

"The Law" (as, even The Constitution !!!) is not an eternally fixed divinely inspired set of books that can and must never be changed ...

No. You ignore it because you have no answer that doesn't contradict what you have stated. Why don't you admit that you are for saving lives and that you are against guns.

By the way, just because you may have a gun doesn't make you a gun right person.

There is no shortage of those who want to control others while reserving privilege and exclusive rights for themselves.

They are never willing to be held aaccountable for the failures of their scheming ways, they just go about layering one law over another to cover up their failures.

Saturday night just ain't that special.
Yeah, I got the constitution on the run.
'Cause even though we've got the right
To defend our home, to defend our life,
Got to understand to get it in hand about the guns.

Everybody's got a pistol. Everybody got a .45.
The philosophy seems to be,
At least as near as I can see,
When other folks give up, I, I'll give up...

I am a gun owner who sensibly reasonably understands that NO "right" is *absolute* -- not "speech" or "assembly" or "press" or "religion" or … "bearing and keeping arms" …

duh

Gun ownership is already not absolute.

And still waiting to hear about that scenario.

Thanks for posting. Your an asset to our fight against anti-gun nuts. We do appreciate you reminding everyone exactly what they are fighting against, and what kind of folks they would be dealing with in a "compromise" for sensible Gun Regulation. The best reason for saying "NO" more regulations.

By that "logic,"automotive dealerships should be held liable for deaths that result from vehicle crashes.
