What percentage of non students in this age group were insured before ACA legislation?

This age group was and remains most likely to be employed in food services/ retail. My daughter used to be a waitress at a national restaurant chain that offered insurance to their employees as a recruiting hook. I took a look at what they offered. It capped annual reimbursement at a measly $1,000 a year.

This age group is more likely to be involved in serious car accidents, engage in binge drinking/ substance abuse and unprotected sex as well as initiate or be the victim of a violent crime , often fueled by alcohol or drugs.

Most states only require mandatory and minimum auto liability insurance. This insurance protects the other driver or injured party. It does not cover the medical expenses of the insured party without a rider and increased premium.

Many states had independently increased the age an adult child could be covered by their parent's plan to age 26. The ACA reflected this trend. A few states had expanded the age through 30 years and they continue to do so.

Who cares if you have "free access" when you have to wait a year to get the issue taken care of? I have family in the Netherlands who have also been put off (there is a LIST) and died waiting. One was in his 30's with a family.

Please.

You already have free access in the US.

Go to a free clinic, go to an ER and claim indigent - do what the illegals do.

According to the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, the average American spends 9.8 percent of his income on taxes; Swedes spend 12.3 percent, Danes 26.4 percent, Norwegians 10 percent, and Finns 12.9 percent.
And you want to be a teacher?

Get your facts straight.

What did you think of Johan Norberg's comment about how the Swedish and other healthcare systems are free loading off of the innovations that come from the U.S health system(of 2008)?

This is potentially true - many nations are also freeloading off of the US military presence in their countries as well.

So we end up paying for medical innovation that other countries are able to provide for their own citizens at a low cost + money that the other countries dont need to spend on their military also is spent to improve the local infrastructure and quality of life for their citizens.

This is the main problem: the richest country on earth is not able to provide most of its citizens essential quality of life items similar to other first world countries because it is too concerned with protecting and providing for citizens of other countries. Why spend building cities and hospitals in Iraq, Afghanistan, etc when our own citizens need help stateside??

"At least all people there have access to healthcare free"

This why some like you are called "low information voters" and you should have to take a course, like is required to exercise your 2nd Amendment rights, BEFORE being allowed to vote.

Hint. it is NOT free, they PAY for it through extremely HIGH TAXES.

Property taxes and combined federal and income taxes in California, New York, New Jersey are higher than what the average Swede is paying. Most Swedes pay 30% income tax and gets all the benefits and free things through that!! You need to be forced to live in Europe for a year until YOU realize how things are!

Very true. Excellent comments that are right to the point. Yes the USA cannot and as far as I'm concerned. Doesn't have any interest in providing Health Care to it own citizens. To come right out and say it. The USA has very little interest in providing, anything that should come with a citizenship. I'm sorry to inform some Americans, but there are some particulars that come with citizenship. The only guarantee in this one, is that you will pay taxes. Part of which will support other countries, and the amount of welfare in this country. Go to a Walmart on the 1st of the month, and see where you tax dollars are going to. Your tax dollars are not going to help you personally very much. Certainly will not give you, a more affordable health care plan or system in the USA.

I agree with the poster our tax dollars support others, many that are outside America. Our own citizens seem to be nothing more than a cash cow for the Gov't.
