Of course we'd have higher wages (at the low end of the income scale) without massive immigration. But that's not good for business, so unrestricted immigration will continue.
Nope. Immigration is necessary for us to have a stable economy. The United States does not have a stable population, due to below replacement birth rates. This poses a great threat to long-term recessions (i.e. Japan).
Immigration actually increases demand in the economy, because it expands the consumer base.
When it comes to immigration the only question that matters is: "Does it improve the lives of current citizens?" Despite slow economic growth and a population that has begun to decline, the living standard of the average Japanese continues to rise. I expect Japan to continue proving that it is possible for mature economies with low birth rates to cope without transforming themselves through mass immigration.

Stop H1-B's and we would have higher wages on the skilled side as well. Not as much as some think though, because we would also have more Americans learning these skills. Which is a good thing.

Want higher wages, reduce immigration (legal and illegal) AGREE?
Nice job of conveniently ignoring the history that when cheap labor didn't come to US companies' jobs, those companies sent the jobs to cheap labor, like Donny boy sending his clothing jobs to China.

What about construction jobs? ILLEGAL aliens DO undercut US citizens and legal aliens right there.

Especially in the construction trades.
Flooring installation pay, is what it was in the late 1970's.
In the 1990's it took a drastic downturn in pay rates.
I was charging $3 a sq.ft. to install wood floors in 1993.
Today, the going rate is $1.15 per sq.ft.
Then add in the inflation rates the Federal Reserve has created, and it is a 75% cut in pay.
Jobs Americans once loved to do, no longer pay the bills, even working 7 days a week 14 hour days.

What about them?
If you want to stop that happening, those who hire them should be jailed, not just fined which gets written off as the cost of doing business but jailed. And not the minions, the heads of the companies that do the hiring.

Seizure of all business and personal assets would be a +.

Works for me. People treat this as a new issue when it's been going on for decades, funny how those who profit from illegal immigration have nothing to say about it, eh?
