They were two hate-filled, bigoted municipal employees interacting in one department. Now 13 innocent people are dead in unspeakable carnage.
One man spent his free time writing frightening, NRA-loving, hate-filled screeds on Facebook about the other’s religion.

There are things that you, or other people, may do that are perfectly legal but may not be things that you want to be public. You may be cheating on your wife, may visit bondage clubs, etc., that are legal but you may not want others to know about.
If the government had the ability to find embarrassing information on journalists and political foes, they could use that information to their political advantage.

Deaths by firearms just exceeded automobile deaths in Michigan and the national figures are fairly close to even.
People need cars to get to wrok and make a living and are used every day, if guns were used and available in numbers comparable to cars it would be worse, comparing the two is an irrational argument.
No one stated that killings would stop if we eliminated AR's but we have the higest gun homicide rate of any country, the highest mass murder rate of any country, you need to believe that we either have more mentally ill people or too many guns available or both.
And yet if we remove the gun-free zip codes in the inner-cities of Chicago, Baltimore, Oakland, Los Angeles and a couple other of liberal success stories we have a lower homocide rate than most of the world. And we have tons of guns. That's right out of the FBI statistics. We don't have a gun problem. We have an inner-city and gang problem.
I won't discount the killings like San Bernadino. They are horrible events. However, they are rare. There are statistics that seem to indicate our rate is lower than Europe on a comparative basis.
NSA record keeping is for prevention, not to investigate afterwards. It is easy to get a warrant afterward with full access...... Unless they have been lying to us the whole time about only collecting algorithms of phone numbers., meaning they have never needed a warrant to see our private things.
