The government is not our friend nor our protector. They lie for the sake of political expediency, for the sake of votes, for the sake of burying their heads in the sand and REALLY hoping that they won't be forced to deal with such a complicated and dangerous matter, and they lie for the sake of keeping the masses calm and under control.
And people (if they didn't know that already) are quickly beginning to realize that.
It is the reason why increasing numbers of police chiefs and sheriffs around the country are encouraging those who are trained and legally allowed to carry a gun, to carry a gun. It is the reason why more FBI background checks happened this last Black Friday than any other day in history. It is the reason why almost everyone I know and everyone I come in contact with (even in superficial contact) is worried and at least mentally preparing (if not physically preparing) to ensure the safety and security of their famlies. It is the reason why even those who have traditionally looked to government to "sort it all out" are recognizing that the government can't sort any of it out.
The government is making statements and decisions that both defy logic and sound out-of-touch with the reality on the ground. People have eyes. Outside of the CD bubble there are actually millions of people who are paying attention to what is happening in the world and in the country, and with eyes-wide-open recognize the clear danger.
That isn't fear speaking. It isn't knee jerk partisanship. It isn't xenophobia or islamaphobia or my gun-climging-bible-thumping-red-neckedness speaking. It is a clear understanding that this country is heading for big trouble on many fronts and that the government as it stands and operates on December 5, 2015, is neither willing nor able to do anything to stop it.
