I'm in favor of limited immigration of people who have money to invest in creating businesses that will employ American citizens, and of people who are culturally compatible with our Western European heritage.

We should not allow immigration to put a strain on our resources -- water, housing, basic infrastructure, etc.

Our immigration system over the last fifty years has been a complete failure by the above standards.

Island: land surrounded by water.

Australia fits that definition.

It also fits the definition of a continent.

Well by that definition, that must mean the Americas are also an island.

Sure, why not?

Just because you say so?

Just because Joe Shmoe says so?

Yep, just like some Joe Shmoe says Australia is an island, that must mean the Americas are an island too because they too are surrounded by water.....

It is an island, whether you like it or not.

And not just because I or anyone else says so.

Island = land surrounded by water.

Then back up your claim. You say an island is land surrounded by water, the Americas are land surrounded by water, so by your definition, it must be an island.
