Very flat, unlike 20-30 years ago. I have little doubt flattened a lot by upside down mortgages preventing employment moves, as well as former anti business states (ex: Massachusetts) moving into far more business friendly rankings -Ma is now 25th, was 45 or worse long-term.

It will likely stay relatively flat, lagging behind the effects of demographic change on the EC.

Interestingly, I think this is the first time, in a very long time, that California doesn't gain a seat.

Actually demographic changes will take years to catch up with this huge change towards red & purple states.

Not really. Gaining a few seats net is less than say VA turning POTUS blue was. Not much different than NM going blue. A few seats is less than most single states.

2 census' back the change was Red net +15. That's 2 typical states. (435/51 w DC * 2 is b/w 16 and 17).

No surprise the 2 biggest gainers levy no state income tax. Rest of the states better get on board!

In California we already have too many people concentrated in certain areas.

yea, there math seems off, California is already under represented,

If they gain nothing in 4 years, they will have an estimated 41 million residents being represented by 56 people meaning each district is roughly 732,000.

the current house average is 710,000. That means California should get at least 1 seat.

I think that the decline in the oil industry may cost Texas a future seat.
