Not under Merkel. Merkel has driven the CDU to the center/ center-left. The CDU today is for the most part indistinguishable from the Social Democrats. Which is why the Social Democrats are not able to get more than 25 % of the vote anymore. Merkel by her policies has created a new right-wing party called AFD.

It was self evident in my post. While you are complicit in demonizing Putin, he has thus far at least used his misappropriations for the more worthy goal of a functional state. I also don't see Russian society as having even claimed to represent Western style civil rights. It also can be argued that Putin was a necessary evil in that post Soviet Russia was so corrupt that any organic path to the west was impossible.

What is Germany's excuse ? Germany is like an abused, self loathing child that seems bent on taking all of Europe with it. Financial warfare of Austerity ; open invitation of the third world which has shocked and polarized Europe; and Germany has decided it will now censor "hate" on the Internet. I'd call that thuggish any day of the week. In addition to this it has been threatening every state that does not dutifully follow its edicts. Yeah, its a thug state.

Never mind the irony that it pay reparations to Israel that clearly has a very different view about Muslim intergeneration. If that doesn't make Germany a basket case of unprincipled thumb sucking shivering in the corner, I don't know what would.
