$10 a barrel to his crony special interests ( dem contributors). Yep don't let folks get a break at the pump, have to take the opportunity to jack it up like a good mob boss.

Sorry, the oil companies mainly contribute to Republicans. The $10 tax, at a time when oil prices are at modern day lows, is a good thing to keep the incentive to conserve fossil fuels and stimulate renewable energy. The last time the gas tax was raised was 1993 -- to 18.4 cents per gallon of gasoline.

So the republicans don't have crony special interest contributors?

And would it not seem that this is a most appropriate time to place a reasonable tax on oil? It is not going to disrupt the economy and can be used to provide the infrastructure financing we badly need. In fact it can pretty much be turned into projects fixing the roads, bridges etc.. providing a large employment base.

Sounds very rational.

Raising taxes sounds reasonable? There is so much waste in DC, how in the world do you people think its a good idea to shovel more money there? I really am baffled by it. Please don't give me the old"gotta fix are bridges " nonsense. They only use about 60%f the gas excise tax now on roads. When is the public going to wake up?

The money wouldnt go to Republicans.. it would go to government.. yet another tax that will be passed onto the consumer to pay..

Oil companies would pay the fee, which would be gradually introduced over five years. The government would use the proceeds to fund high-speed railways, autonomous cars and other travel systems, aiming to reduce emissions from the U.S. transportation system.

I was responding to post #3 "$10 a barrel to his crony special interests ( dem contributors). Yep don't let folks get a break at the pump, have to take the opportunity to jack it up like a good mob boss."

Try to keep up.

All of those uses of funds sound like good ideas.
