When some think tank comes up with the legislation and tells you not to fool with it, why are you even a legislator anymore? You just sit there and take votes and you’re kind of a feudal serf for folks with a lot of money.” — Dale Schultz, 32-year Republican state Legislator in Wisconsin and former state Senate Majority Leader, in 2013, before retiring rather than face a primary challenger backed by Americans for Prosperity.
“I was directly told, ‘You want to be chairman of House Administration, you want to continue to be chairman.’ They would actually put in writing that you have to raise $150,000. They still do that — Democrats and Republicans. If you want to be on this committee, it can cost you $50,000 or $100,000 — you have to raise that money in most cases.” — Bob Ney, five-term Republican Congressman from Ohio who pleaded guilty to corruption charges connected to the Jack Abramoff scandal, in 2013.
“People tell me all the time that our politics in Washington are broken and that multi-millionaires, billionaires and big corporations are calling all the shots. …It’s hard not to agree.” — Russ Feingold, three-term Democratic Senator from Wisconsin, in 2015, announcing he’s running for the Senate again.
”When these political action committees give money, they expect something in return other than good government. … Poor people don’t make political contributions. You might get a different result if there were a poor-PAC up here.” — Bob Dole, former Republican Senate Majority Leader and 1996 GOP Presidential nominee, in 1983.
I wonder if Clinton is going to "look into" releasing these transcripts, like she wants Wall Street to "cut it out".
675K for a speech? Reagan received 2 million from the Japanese after a trade treaty was approved. It was obviously a bribe.
"I am not the establishment and will fight WALL Street."
And I have a bridge you can buy. She will lose to SANDERs.
Politicians can do squat unless you vote for them. I hope people aren't trying to blame money for their inability to not vote for those they know aren't going to do what they promise.
No candidate can run without proof of cerebralrectumism, an essential credential.
. . .
No candidate will ever remind Americans that we’re endowed with rights to life, to liberty and to absolutely own; that governments were instituted to secure those rights; and that only those who consent to be governed, are governed.
Restating: Government has two jobs -
Job #1 : secure endowed rights (adjudicate disputes, prosecute criminals, defend against all enemies, foreign or domestic); and
Job #2 : govern those who consent.
Caveat - consent waives job #1.
D’Oh.
Do you know how and when you consented to be governed, and thus surrendered endowed rights? And that means you now must pay a tax, or get permission (license) to live, work, travel, buy, sell, hire employees, hunt, fish, operate a business, drive a car, build a house, cut hair, trade in healthcare, marry and / or own a dog. Worst of all, you are now required to have a government approved ID (internal passport) to present on demand, by any and all who acquiesce to the glorious socialist State.
IF this is the definition of a free society, we need to adjust the definition of freedom. And since no candidate will ever mention that the constitution was bypassed in 1933, by a perpetual “temporary” state of emergency, or that FDR liberated (stole) all the lawful money and replaced it with worthless IOUs, or that government criminalized the possession of lawful gold money by “free” Americans, it is obvious that until we worm government of the public sector criminals, we can’t expect much assistance in worming the private sector criminals.
Of course, as long as you’re a recipient of government bribes, you will continue to vote for the candidate that promises the most bribes, while hating all other representatives who are in competition for ‘your’ piece of the action. You have the government you deserve - the “best” government bribery can buy.
The Clintons( Chelsea too), Obama and Bushes are the darlings of Big Money Banks and Cruz's wife works for Goldman Sachs so he's sold out as well. That leaves the loose canon Trump and Bernie Sanders. Each with different reasons they probably aren't on the take. Trump because he has his own money and his ego won't stand for being told what to do, Sanders because he has his ideals, kooky or not.

I have never understood it. People are aware that both parties are wall street /corporation whores and still vote for them. And then whine like babies about the gvt
Myself, I refuse too follow the crowd and not voting for either of the parties nominees, it is looking like Vermin Supreme as a protest vote or staying home.

They're generally a little aware but rationalize it in the fight to defeat the other party....which is totally different and evil.
