While neither is acceptable there is a very significant difference between using a personal account and having your own server. The only logical reason for that is to to have greater control over the information and what is preserved. One could make the argument this is better security because third parties are out of the loop. That becomes a moot argument because I have much more confidence in highly qualified Google employees and this server and it's contents were turned over to a third party after she left State.
Whether it's shown what she did was illegal or not, let me ask you this. Why should someone who has taken such a flippant attitude towards the security of state secrets be President?
