Outside of Abortion why do so many Republicans (even the moderate Kasich) want to defund it when it's incredible popular. Call me a liberal but if you want to get rid of Abortion why go after Planned Parenthood in it's entirety? What's so bad about it? Aren't there bigger Fish to fry anyways?

they don't like the idea of abortions being funded with their tax dollars. regardless of the fact that PP provides a wide spectrum of health services to women in low income areas. and then you see threads on here asking why poor people have kids that they cannot afford.

Because ACA was mandated to pay for the same thing government is funding PP.

Why are we paying for the same thing twice?

Agree with 1st statement.

Reach to blame lack of repub support for PP as a reason poor having kids since PP is still being funded.

Additionally there are many other agencies available that provide more services and are not taxpayer funded and do not cross the line of prohibited political support.

PP makes enough money to be independant of taxpayer funding.

PP has consistently refused to open their books and segregate abortion money from Fed Funds.
So if they want to keep all the money in the same pot they can rightfully be accused of using Fed dollars for abortions.

I'm a Republican. PP provides much needed low cost services to those most in need of birth control and family planning services. The organization works on a shoestring budget and the employees I've met work there because they believe in the mission of Planned Parenthood.

Abortion is legal. Those who want to preclude women from family planning services because they don't approve of abortion are wrong. Period.

The ACA does not "mandate" the "same thing" that government funds PP.

There are many people who are still uninsured after the ACA. Much of the "government" funding of PP is through Medicaid, and it does not pay for abortions.

There are not enough providers to see the population that PP serves if PP ceases to exist.

Actually that is false information. Your tax dollars do NOT support abortion at Planned parenthood in fact no state or federal funding is used for abortions. That was done away years ago.

"But, it's important to note that federal dollars are not used to provide the service at the center of the political debate around Planned Parenthood: abortions. That's been banned by law in almost all cases since 1976."

You can read more about it here:

Winterfall8324, you are correct Planned Parenthood mostly targets low income women and teenage girls. They mostly help with STDS, contraceptives, sex education, much need health services for women.

Then why do conservatives, such as Northeastah, demand that people believe it really is true that our tax dollars pay for many thousands of abortions every year.
