Would the do-gooders who are cackling over this apparent contradiction be willing to apply the same standard to the open carry of firearms near an appearance by our current President? Or even the Academy Awards ceremonies? -- I thought not.

The CPAC organizers probably arrived at this decision only after a careful weighing of the differences between an approach based upon ideology and one based upon real-world considerations, The unfortunate fact is that the nation's current polarization has given rise to a growing number of alienated extremists on both sides of the political divide(s), and while the vast majority of right-to-carry advocates are restrained and responsible, there exists a distinct possibility that someone among the opposition might seize the opportunity to "prove his/her point".

Meh. No more hypocritical than gun shows or gun shops that don't allow loaded guns.

That's impossible.

Everyone knows that liberals hate guns and would never touch one.

That's the conservative mantra.

Just like at NRA conventions where no guns are allowed. Conservatives are the biggest hypocrites in this country.

Liberals have flexible morals as long as they can forward their agenda, most live by 'the ends justify the means'. It wouldn't be the first time a liberal went nuts with a gun.

So what indeed, there shouldn't be an issue with any place being a "gun free zone" if they choose to be.....though you have to admit it is a bit hypocritical for those that criticize gun free zones to be holding a conference at a gun free zone.

You do know that there are many thousands of guns at an NRA convention right? I can assure you gun owners would gladly allow leaded guns in the NRA convention in exchange for a nation wide ban on gun free zones.
