all they care about is Trump or stupid debates or town halls. Meanwhile, in MD, an officer was gunned down and killed in a police HQ and not 1 word about it on cnn.com
2 hellfire missiles found on a passenger plane bound for the US and you'd never know it unless it was trending on FB (that's how I came across both of these news stories)
There is no doubt that the main stream media is losing it's relevance. The nonsense they cover, the bias, and slant, the people are tired of it, and are going elsewhere for their news.
We no longer live in a world were there is a monopoly on information, the main stream media is either going to find a way to become relevant, or it will disappear.

I googled and both stories are out there on MSM, although trumped by Trump news.
Bomb sniffing dogs in Belgrade found a package containing 2 Made in the USA hellfire missles on a commercial Air Serbia flight that originated in Beruit, eventually destined for someone in Portland.
Unfortunately thousands of people, including officers, are shot each year in the US. It seems to barely register with many people.

Of what use is the "news" you think is under reported, anyway? You going to stop that bullet, or put in your application to be a cop in Maryland? Same with the missiles, what can you do with info like that? It's just meant to scare, nothing more.
Political information, on the other hand, MIGHT cause you to make a more informed decision, such as a vote, or join a political group, or work for a certain candidate to help improve your world. Or, it might just cause you to lose your lunch. But most sensational news involving crime does little to improve our world or our mood.
Seems to me the "main stream media" does its job, usually. Even the use of that term betrays a certain worldview of those who use it, mostly negative. It implies you'd like your information from small, unreliable and unaccountable sources that have nothing to lose by presenting falsehoods as facts, usually for devious reasons of their own. It's true there aren't a lot of reliable sources, and all can be called into question at times. But most of the "new media" are garbage for the "low information" voter.
Everything you read, see or hear is controlled by less than 10 corporations. IIRC, it is closer to 6.
Some people have been very successful at convincing the American non thinker that the media is controlled by liberals. IMO, it is controlled by corporations whose purpose is to make money for their owners. They are giving us what we want.
IMO the media has gone nuts with their obsession with the minutia of politics, the count down clocks, the discussion panels, endless political opinion, primaries, caucuses, delegates and super delegates, town halls and debates..Will it ever end? Probably not as the media seems to think itself very relevant and has gone politics 24/7 any other news seems to be irrelevant..As a result i dont watch much tv any more as its just politics or commercials and garbage reality shows..
