A: Because Islam is becoming more and more radicalized over time and the West is acquiescing again.

I've traveled quite a bit and I do my best to respect the local culture when I'm in any country. But this is about control. The more we give, the more they take. It would be smarter to simply tell them we will respect their culture, but it's not our culture and we are not going to require our women to cover up. After all, we don't make their women take their scarfs off when they land in NYC, even though forcing a woman to wear a scarf is not an American value.
So what do you think "the West" should do about Islamic dress codes in Islamic nations? Bomb them? Make muslims wear dunce caps when they come here?

Because I honestly don't see much that can - or should - be done. There's certainly nothing an AIRLINE can do, and an airline is the topic here.

C'mon here, all this nonsense isn't accomplishing anything constructive.

The U.S. prides itself upon acceptance of cultures. That is just one of the things that make America great and a desired destination for others. Don't lower yourselves to the rigid position taken by those countries practicing a form of religion that can only be sustained through force of law.

Does anyone on here suggest that airlines flying into Iran since the deposition of the Shah have not been informing their crews about expected dress code among other things to be careful of?
the covering of the hair is a distant second. the much bigger concern (IMO) is how many flight attendants will be accused of being spies and thrown in prison. Some things are just not worth it. As I said perviously, I would find another job.

Iran is considered the fourth most important economic partner of the EU. International commercial carriers compete for the route. Currently, Lufthansa, Aitalia, Austria, Turkish and Aegan operate commercial flights between Europe and Iran. Air France has decided to reenter the market and in doing so has agreed to respect the local custom of women wearing a scarf upon departing the aircraft.

A head scarf is expected of all women in Iran. A scarf is not a veil is not a burka.

Iran is substantially more liberal than US ally, Saudi Arabia whereby a woman traveling without an appropriate male escort is not allowed to enter the country.

Ever see a depiction of the Virgin Mary without a hijab?

Head coverings are mentioned in numerous places in the gospel. Some Eastern Orthodox Christian religions continue to require women to wear a scarf. Married Orthadox Jewish women are required to cover their hair and in modern times do so with a wig.

I'm old enough to remember plenty of old women wearing " babushkas" in church.

Many Muslim women abandoned the practice of head covering because they believe it calls more attention, the opposite of the purpose of the covering.

No doubt more than enough female Air France flight attendants seek to travel to and experience Iran and have no issue wearing a scarf and will bid for these long haul flights.

When is Obama going to preach IRAn about tolerance for the western ways. Geez!
Iran used to be a great country, the people there have not recovered since these religious nut cases took over.

Five other commercial European carriers routinely fly to/ from Iran and the crews have not experienced the type of situation you describe.

Air France should have said no direct planes to Iran.

Either welcome to the 21st century or stay in the dark ages.

Iran at one time was a democratic society. Go google/bing pics of Iran 1970's and you'll be amazed.

That hijab rule is forced on people. Women don't want it. By kowtowing to the rule you are not "respecting" the people. You are part of the enforcement regime. Besides, hijab is for Muslims. Where does it say French citizens must follow Islam? When that Muslim delivery guy refused to deliver beer, every liberal stood up and cheered for him but now Air France crew has to suck it up and do as told. If Air France is so concerned about not hurting mullahs, may be they should send an all-Muslim crew to Tehran.

Too bad Iranians couldn't keep their country like it was before the mullahs and ayatollah took over. everything turns into a mess when you say yes to Islamists.

Simple:
It's a law in Iran. It's not a law here.
Know the difference?
