They claim they were unfairly told to leave the restaurant even though other seats were empty.

Seven Muslim women sue Laguna Beach cafe for discrimination after they were ordered to leave - LA Times

Quote:
Seven women are suing Urth Caffe in Laguna Beach for discrimination, alleging they were targeted last month for being "visibly Muslim" while wearing head scarves and ordered to leave the restaurant before they finished eating.

The April 22 ouster "left us shaken, disrespected and shocked," said Soondus Ahmed, a software engineer. Ahmed said her group was ushered out by two police officers after a manager said they had violated the eatery's policy allowing just a 45-minute stay during peak times. "We committed no crime, and it felt surreal that we were escorted out."

Another plaintiff, Sara Farsakh, said the manager "came up to us and said it was rush hour," but around us, "there were at least 20 empty tables." Farsakh, a college student, said she had gone to the cafe once before with her husband without a problem.

I highly doubt they were asked to leave because they are Muslim.

Baseless claim. One of the plaintiffs said she had been there before without any issues. The article mentioned one resident sees Muslims there quite a bit and no one gives it a second thought.

Could be true -
They admit to being there during the lunch rush hour. How long had they been sitting there after finishing their lunches? There's a lot of unknown variables before pulling out the old faithful race card.

Then again - maybe the employees are racist and seated them, took their orders, allowed them to eat and finish their meals and once the 45 minute window occurred - the employees allowed their racism to kick in.

Wonder if they took pictures or video'd the 20 empty tables?

oooooook

according to this article

"Carol Duquesnel, her mother, said she has dined at the cafe "so many times when there are people wearing burkas and no one gives them another look. We are welcoming."

I've been there before, and I've seen Muslim there all.the.time. No one gave them a second look. sorry.

Pictures wouldn't make a difference. Many restaurants have empty cables, it depends on the available wait staff to serve the tables. I've seen busy packed restaurants with seats with seats available or closed areas due to lack of wait staff to service those areas.
