People get so worked up because it is Bible related. In every marriage someone is the Alpha. In the Bibles version there is no guess work and no ego as to who that is.
IDK, maybe I'm wrong, maybe all these empowered woman who are in charge is a good thing, gives a woman an excuse when they are on FB talking to ex boy friends or new "friends" while the husband/father is on night shift providing for his Queen.
No, I have the correct definition of collectivism. Here's the quote:
Dude is channeling Karl Marx.
Yes, it's just "advice" and his opinion but it's just one example of people trying to socially engineer others how to live. When the state does it, it's at gunpoint. Here it's a random diatribe by a guy but it just shows how engrained collectivist morality and group think is within society.
How is that a Marxist thing to say?
You need to be educated. Marxism is not the first thing to every tell people how to think. Really, Marxism hardly even does it. Religion's only actual goal is to get people to think a certain way, generally using a fear. If it's not the fear of Hell from the evangelicals, it's getting your head sliced off by ISIS and the other radical Muslim groups.
You also didn't share what collectivism is to you. What you described sounds more like authoritarianism, which is not necessarily what collectivism is.
I simply describe it as placing high levels of priority on the collective good. There's good and bad to that, but I wouldn't say it's all one or the other. Same with individualism, which is it's ideological contrast.
(I didn't even read this) but why would anyone care what a has-been 80's child actor has to say?
Exactly my thoughts.
For the life of me, I can't reckon why people put ANY stock in famous and/or rich folks' opinions without any indication that they have any expertise in the matter at hand, whatsoever.

"When each person gets their part right"
=
"From each according to his ability, to each according to his need."
Marx's popular saying originally coined by Blanc.
It's a morally collectivist attitude because "needs", "abilities", and "parts" all prescribe value and desire to individuals when those entities derive from an individual.
This is a cultural critique on my part. Cameron doesn't have a gun to my head or the head of anyone else. I'm just pointing out how the collectivist mentality the state upholds filters down to the populace.
