I don't know about the US military, but here in Canada, all members of the Canadian Forces are prohibited by law, from political action , except to vote. They must be neutral in all ways, as long as they are under contract and serving .

Not true. And everyone there does graduate as an Officer. Cadets can be called into action at any time. When they hit their Junior year, they are financially obligated to the education etc they received, if expelled.
Hatch act is what this is all about. And I can see most dont get it, and that is the problem with our country and most others, standards are being lowered or ignored for progress. Blacks have been at West Point for a long time. Women have been there since the 70's. These Cadets are making a political statement which is against the Hatch Act. We shall see what the Sup does. Carry on.

This is what you get when you push to put people who do not belong in places they do have not the first clue as to what is expected. We are like the last days of Rome, what once was proud strong legions is now being made up of the dregs and low quality people. Its a sign we are decaying and we will crumble.

I do. What they are doing is contrary to discipline and good order. Court martial all those involved.

Maybe its not "contrary to discipline"? It may just be some black cadets happy with their success? If it was some kind of political statement, devisive, or something that runs contrary to the rules at West Point I'm sure they will find out.

So don't show politics, problem solved.
Please explain exactly how you know that these girls intended to make a political statement.

The cadets stated to other cadets it was a Political statement, thinking it was funny. So, as the inquiry goes on , the Litmus test of West Points rules will be tested..
Its interesting when you read follow up articles.

Long ago (1965) I wore cadet military uniforms very similar to the young women cadets at West Point. I had attended Pennsylvania Military College in Chester PA. That college no longer exist.

My first thought on that photo was: where are the female White or Hispanic cadets? We did not have segregation back in the military in 1965. Our military was integrated because we were being trained to fight for our Country; all the people in our Country and not just one race. Our dorm rooms were intergraded, our mess hall was intergraded, our classes were intergraded - we worked as a 'team'.

In 1965 our Country was changing. There were many lingering 'haters' from the past. But our military was one of the leaders for changing attitudes. It is just hard for me to look at any picture of all Black, all White, or all Hispanic in one of these 'graduation' pictures without seeing the problems that they reflect. Apparently we are no longer operating as a team.

That fist represented some of the highest quality people

The current group that used that symbol was started by blacks AND whites. That symbol has always been inclusive of all races.

What "political" message are they sending? Is it "political?" Do they have a party?

The rule does cover issue advocacy and non-partisan politics. No party or even candidate has to be associated with the message for it to violate the rule.
