“About 1 in 6 Uticans is a refugee from another nation. State data shows this group has the highest dropout rate, lowest college-ready rate in the city."

So it makes total sense for the government to spend millions trying to steer them towards careers in cutting edge technology.

Maybe you guys don't understand. Syria wasn't some third world slum before the war. It was basically a typical first world country. People, just like you and I, suddenly found themselves surrounded by violence and death. Most have gone through things many times worse than our combat troops have faced. They've lost mothers, brothers, children. They need compassion and support, not condesendence and hate.

Savino, however, told TheDCNF she has not heard negative comments from the local community. “If we don’t help [the refugee kids] be productive now, we’re going to pay for it later,” she said.

Think goodness the black unemployment rate is so low, because if it wasn't, people might ask why we are importing people to receive this opportunity instead of giving it to US citizens with a high unemployment rate.

Help wanted:
The American federal govt., seeks motivated financially destitute applicants interested in creating terror, unrest and financial chaos the world over. Bomb building experience helpful, but not required ,will train right candidate. Legal citzenship not a requirement...because hey we're the fed govt and we make the rules!

I know, right? Instead we leave them few options and incarcerate them at high rates because we put them in desperate situations. And we give refugees low interest loans to start businesses, but I don't see them offering people here those same opportunities. I know a refugee from Sudan who got a home, car, and job placement. I understand why we would want to help them get a start here, but what about people living in the ghettos of Detroit or Chicago who have to live in conditions so bad we would offer them sanctuary if they were from another country? We don't do the same for them at all. It's sad.
