More than that:

Quote:
Section 211(f)(1) of the Department of Energy Organization Act (42 U.S.C. 7141(f)(1)) is amended by striking a Negro, Puerto Rican, American Indian, Eskimo, Oriental, or Aleut or is a Spanish speaking individual of Spanish descent and inserting Asian American, Native Hawaiian, a Pacific Islander, African American, Hispanic, Puerto Rican, Native American, or an Alaska Native.
What's more amazing is that it was brought up by a dem, no matter whether it passed or not, just look at the dollars it cost us for some fake outrage that if you went to most Asian people they could care less.....just ask the Native Americas who were so outraged by the word "Red Skins", turns out they were really not mad at all.....

And we better tell "Orient Air Tai" they can no longer use that word....or any version of that word...

And the term 'White" should be replaced with European.

Nope, talking about "European Americans" would give that group legitimacy as an interest group, which would be racist don't cha know.

Default PC Gone Too Wild

Now what else are we really going to call Chinese, Japanese, and other Asians?

This is common knowledge. Oriental refers to things and Asian refers to people.

The British used it interchangeably but that may be changing as well.

Dividing into "Northeast Asian" (China, Mongolia, Korea, Japan), "Southeast Asian" (all the darker oriental looking people in that area) "South Asian" (India, Pakistan, Bangladesh) and "Central Asian" (all the rest in Asia aside from the Arabs and Persians) kind of works, although it's complicated.

Oriental just means "eastern", that is it. I don't understand why "Asian" is so much nicer to refer to people than oriental", they both refer to a geographical reference.

Occidental means "western", it would be just as valid to call people or things in the western hemisphere occidental.

These are latin words.

There may be some history of people using "oriental" in a derogatory manner that is hoped to be extinguished by using different words, but it isn't the word itself that is derogatory.

Yes, I've only ever though of objects as oriental, never persons.
Actually even things were referred to as their country of origin.

This only has to do with brainwashing though, no real substance here except agendas.
