When I read it I just couldn't believe it.
Now, I know there have been 'wrong place/wrong time' gang shootings where innocent children were shot by stray bullets and killed.
But this is despicable crossing of the line.
Maybe it's just me, but it seems like back in the day at least gang members had some code of ethics where some things were clearly off limits.
For example, back in 1995, the Mexican Mafia prison gang was upset that one of their former members was misrepresenting himself in order to sell drugs, so they wanted him killed. Several gang members were recruited for the hit job and the result was the horrific 1995 El Monte murders where 5 people including a little girl and a six month boy were executed point blank.
The guy that executed the six month boy (who laughed and joked during his trial) was killed in prison on his first day by order of the Mexican Mafia. They waited until he finished playing a pickup game of basketball and then shanked him with a metal pole through his chest so that he'd bleed out faster.
DA: Gang leader ordered hit on baby from jail - CBS News
Quote:
A Georgia gang leader is charged with ordering a retaliation hit from behind bars that killed a baby boy, officials say.
Kenneth Eric Jackson, who the DeKalb County District Attorney says is the highest ranking member of the Sex Money Murder Bloods gang in Georgia, was indicted on murder and gang charges for his alleged role in the May 2014 shooting death of nine-month-old KenDarious Edwards Jr.
Allegedly acting on Jackson's orders, officials say several masked gang members forced their way into a Decatur home and opened fire on the child, his mother, his grandmother, and a family friend as the women cowered in a bathroom.
