Correct me if I'm mistaken, but in anarchy there is no law, and without enforced laws power wins out and the strong force-feed their ways and demands to the weak. Thus you end up with some corn-pone nazi in control as strong-man/dictator. So anarchy really only lasts as long as that takes.

While I can see self-defense in it, I can also see the opportunity for real unopposed offense.

I think of it as lack of class and arrogance. Conservatives , true one that is, try not to push their views down everyone's throats. They try and find a peaceful way to get their point across.
