Oh wait, actually they do.

I'm not beyond consideration that some kind of reckless endangerment and manslaughter charges should apply in such cases. At least whatever charges would apply if a child had drowned in an unsecured pool.

I agree with RK. Guns rarely rise up all by themselves and kill people. Leaving a loaded firearm around where it can be picked up by a childe is absolute negligence.

I acquiesce. You've won this round, brave warrior.

That little girl would still be alive if she'd left the gun alone (and if her dad had properly secured it).

People are ALWAYS the prime mover in any gun death.

Can't really tell who you're pointing the finger at with that remark.

Guns Don't Kill People . . .

How many times does this need to be covered? Gun grabbing liberals will never be satisfied with any explanation because they want nothing but to take rights away from the American people. Damn liberals are simply ruining this country. This BS has been discussed ad nauseam.

ps...the gun didn't kill the girl, she killed herself. If the gun was left alone she would still be alive.
Gun advice for dummies.

Good point, and perhaps it should stand as both sides can be guilty of it from time to time.

Although as you and I know there are a number instances where the family child or the woman of the house defends the home from criminals using a legally owned gun. Our side should probably post a lot more of those types of articles, just to balance out the nonsense like this OP from the grabbers.

Not entirely irrelevant is I was using a .22 cal. rifle to shoot rats at a nearby open dump when I was seven. I had been taught about the dangers of handling a gun and how to do it safely. The accurate shooting part I had to teach myself. Eventually I got pretty good at it.

I believe all children should be taught how to handle dangerous things properly. Suppose a sharp kitchen knife had fallen on the floor. Kids should know either how to pick it up without getting cut or cutting someone else. Same applies to guns. Telling a child not to touch something is dangerous exercise in futility. Teaching a kid that they can hurt themselves is much more effective.
