Psychotic behaviours being defined as:

"In the paper, psychoticism is associated with traits such as tough-mindedness, risk-taking, sensation-seeking, impulsivity and authoritarianism."

Yeah I don't know about you, but when I think "psychotic", I tend to think more "screaming hobo chasing people with a knife" and less "average 20-something".

The title is a lie. That's bad journalism. Stupid journalism in fact. Designed to get people to read it. And of course, most will read the headline and actually think that liberals are psychotic, living their whole life completely unaware that they are actually the stupid ones.

The article liberals are more likely to shows signs of psychoticism. This does not mean liberals are psychotic. Anyone who believes this to be the case is an idiot. What it means is that when looking for people who show signs of psychoticism, more are going to be liberal than conservative, not that all liberals are psychotic or that no conservatives are. The article defines psychoticism as follows:

Quote:
psychoticism is associated with traits such as tough-mindedness, risk-taking, sensation-seeking, impulsivity and authoritarianism.
The article also says that the results in the original journal, as this is just reporting a revision, had been mistakenly (or intentionally, they're not sure) reversed. The proper results were that liberals were more likely to show signs of psychoticism and conservatives are more likely to show signs of neuroticism and social desirability. The original published the opposite. What this means is that members of each group are more likely to be this, though there's no indication that these are exclusive to each group or present in each member of the group.

But you, I read things that go beyond the title.

I do want to be clear. You are able to read well enough to know that the journal doesn't say liberals are psychotic (as the OP and his garbage link's title suggest) but that liberals are more likely than conservatives to show sings psycoticism, while conservatives more likely that liberals to show signs of neuroticism.

I'm not denying that those are the results. But the OPs title is BS and he should probably be ashamed of using it. Since it's lying, by definition. Unless he didn't read the article, in which case it was stupid of him to make this thread. Either way, he's not looking too good. But definitely won't fight the actual results of the journal.

Yea, it's "science" peddled by the same people who say these record breaking average temperatures are not the result of climate change.

The Dumbing Down rolls on....

You can be both. Lots of people on either side of the spectrum accomplish this.

97% of scientists agree that liberals refuse to think for themselves.
