the FBI messed up. he was under investigation TWICE. so how was he not flagged in the NICS system?? how does someone with suspected ties to terror or even sympathetic to terror not get flagged??? and HOW does such a person hold a job in security. They really sh^t the bed on this one

There have been a sufficient number of instances where FBI mesed up, or TSA didn't communicate, or local police weren't informed, etc. They happen frequently enough to warrant congressional investigation, but when you have one committee stalled with a non-story email server, and the other Republican terrorist lover idiot trying to convince his colleagues that yes, Clinton should have personally been on guard duty in BENGHAZI! , well, then congress can't do its job. So the imperilment that we find ourselves in really needs to be addressed by firing congress, and the way to do that is to replace these terrorist-enabling Republicans with Democrats.

This is not the way to go. It hasn't worked for other groups and there's no reason to think bulking up on guns is going to stop terrorists. What does stop terrorists is coordinating, which may have been a real issue in this specific instance. It will be very interesting to see how the FBI explains its lack of interest in Omar Mateen.
We Americans (and visitors to the US, as well) sort of made a pact with the devil: we agreed to more infringement into our rights, more questionable surveillance, more law enforcement powers. In exchange, we were suppose to have a measure of safety. Is this "deal" still such a bargain -- as we getting the level of security we agree to as we sold our rights down river?
