The Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation recently gave MD Anderson a grant of $150 million.
The donation marks the largest in the institution’s history and the largest single contribution from a living individual or family foundation to an institution in the Texas Medical Center or any Texas university.
The grant was awarded by the President of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and his family foundation to enable MD Anderson to make significant advances in personalized cancer therapies and accelerate the pace of pancreatic cancer research.
That's nothing, Portland is building a billion dollar cancer research facility thanks to a $500 million donation from Phil Knight. Though I am just kidding, good for the UAE president for the donation, it is good to see so many deep pocket people donating to this research.
There's been much reciprocity of healthcare between the UAE and other countries. I'm happy to see they made this donation.
People in medicine seem to be able to rise above political differences to ensure people get the care they need. Palestinian and Jewish doctors work side by side all the time, often developing friendships that go beyond their work.
The world could use more of this kind of thing.
I don't think I can rep you again for a while, so thanks for a good thread.
