Illegal aliens are already banned from joining our military. IMO, no one should be able to serve in our military unless you are a citizen of this country or a legal immigrant. That's the way it is right now and that's the way it should remain.
Why is it then illegal for Americans to fight in foreign armies?
Except it's not. Any physically suitable American can go and enlist in the French Foreign Legion, so no it's not illegal for Americans to fight in a foreign army

Americans joined the French Air Force in droves during WWI
Immigrants have a proud tradition of serving in the military. Right now there are thousands of men and women in uniform who weren’t born in the United States, yet they are willing to sacrifice everything for our country.
As of June 30, 2009, there were over 10,000 foreign-born individuals serving in the armed forces, that were not U.S. citizens.”
Since 2014 a small number of non-citizens who came to the United States as children and grew up in the U.S. without legal status have been granted deportation deferrals and are eligible to enlist in the U.S. military, with the goal of becoming naturalized U.S. citizens
According to the Immigration Policy Center, “The September 11 attacks precipitated immediate changes in policies on immigrants in the military. Once the nation was at war, immigrants in the armed forces were eligible for naturalization under the special wartime military naturalization statute. As of October 2009, more than 53,000 immigrants had taken advantage of this provision to become U.S. citizens.
