Do you favor DC statehood? If so why? If not, same question.

My take - no

It seems unlikely anyway that Congress would allow for another state that would be solidly blue. However even if that were not the case I don't see a strong argument for DC becoming a separate state. I do believe that DC needs to have representation and that it should be incorporated into the rest of Maryland. I think that makes total sense and should happen. However a separate state is my issue.

In what way is DC so different that it needs its own separate state for a city? I support statehood for Puerto Rico which is an island (like Hawaii) with a distinctly different culture. However how is DC not like Denver in Colorado or any other large city in a relatively middle population state? Why shouldn't DC become like Baltimore and just be a city in a state?

DC for representation in Maryland!

DC is not a state and never was intended to be. If voting is that important residents can move a very short distance to MD or VA.

Puerto Rico has at least 3 times voted to keep the status quo. Puerto Rico pays taxes like the states, the difference is that the money stays on the island. There are at least 50 states that would like that setup too.

Sure, DC should be a state, it has a population larger than a few states already.

DC should be walled off and quarantined from the humans. Let all of those thugs and dictators fend for themselves in their own little collectivist nightmare and let the rest of us be free human beings.

All Washington, D.C., is is a capital district. It was federally mandated as such in our Constitution, so, no, it cannot ever become a state.

Ever.

Why would we need a 68 square mile state? Just to get 2 more liberal Senators? Pass.

That is EXACTLY why they want statehood - a few more votes to give everyone who lives their raises and more power over the rest of us.

The only thing DC needs is an enema.

I think residents of DC should be able to register to vote in Maryland or Virginia. They should not become a state.
