The school decided to punish the College Republicans after they discovered they were planning another Milo Yiannpolous speaking event by finding the smallest loophole they could manage to suspend the club for a year. The loophole being uncompleted proof of insurance for the private security at this event, which they brought to the attention of the College Republicans the night before so they didn't have enough time to get the paperwork filled out and submitted before the event. Its like when you see the bad guy in a movie sabotage a rival's car before the race.

Here's an excerpt from the email sent to the VP of UCI College Republicans from the administration:

"not only is CRUCI suspended for the concluded Spring 2016 quarter, but the next three quarters as well (a full academic year at UCI). The cited reason is that CRUCI failed to provide a certificate of insurance for the private security hired for the event to protect Yiannopoulos. Contrary to the statement released by UCI, the news reports are accurate, CRUCI is suspended for a whole year from booking rooms for meetings and or events, effectively rendering the club obsolete in purpose. This suspension means that CRUCI can no longer hold meetings, can no longer reserve rooms for or plan events, and as those are the only functions of the club it means that CRUCI can effectively no longer function as a club on campus in any capacity."

This is nothing less than a flimsy excuse to attack the UCI College Republicans in effort to silence them and dismantle their club.

Its scary that the places that seem to have the most restricted speech are the ones where exposure to different opinions should be the most unrestricted.

Colleges are becoming more emboldened to ban Conservative speakers and events they decide are hateful or disruptive, when its Liberal activists who are screaming hateful rhetoric, aggressively and violently protesting and disrupting the speakers if they are allowed in.

This only reinforces the idea that colleges aren't teaching students how to think, they're teaching them what to think. There are 'right' opinions and 'wrong' opinions, and blatant intolerance towards anything that doesn't align with the Progressive narrative is treated as dangerous ideas that need to be silenced. Young people are paying tens of thousands of dollars for the privilege of entering a Totalitarian environment that will happily quash their beliefs if they don't align with what the school deems to be right and wrong.

This kind of thing is happening more and more. A Big 10 university can have a class where a naked woman on stage has sex toys used on her while students watch, and hate mongers can speak if they represent the far left, but if someone representing the right wants to speak they don't stop protestors or there's some punishment attached to it.

A sad turn of events at a place that should be for open discussions of a diverse nature.

They are Out of Control - it's like a wierd combination of Animal Farm/1984/Brave New World.
Breaking News is that Nancy Pelosi just called for all the Democrats to Shut Down the US House of Representatives with a "Sit In" until the get their Gun Bill. All this after the US Senate voted on 4 Gun Bills last night that ALL Failed. 2 by Rebublicans & 2 by Democrats.

Looks like the Dems caught ObamaStompyFoot Fever.

I can't say that I am surprised.

What is astonishing to me is that there are PLENTY of deniers out there.

They make excuses and deny these things are happening all over the country.

"Higher education" is more and more becoming simple leftist ideology brainwashing.
